Will a mobile wireless signal booster work with the glass-mount tower antenna?

Print Friendly and PDF Print

Yes. However with higher gain wireless vehicle boosters, the glass-mount tower antenna should be mounted on the rear window of the vehicle as far as possible from the device antenna. This is necessary to prevent oscillation.

Oscillation occurs when the two antennas pick up each other's signals and create a feedback loop. The signal booster detects oscillation and prevents damage by shutting down. Typically a red indicator light signals that oscillation has occured. Consult the specific booster installation guide for more details.

With a magnetic-mount roof antenna, the metal roof acts as a shield between the tower antenna and device antenna, preventing oscillation. However, when a glass mount antenna is used, the signal can pass through the glass and more easily cause oscillation.
